In a digital landscape often described as "full of noise," how do we distinguish between a verified fact and a fabricated narrative? On December 10, the Digiskill project tackled one of the most critical challenges of our time in the webinar: "Fake or Fact? – How to Spot the Truth in the Age of Misinformation." This third session hosted by Youth Power engaged 25 participants in a masterclass on critical thinking.
The workshop was led by Mattia Berselli, a journalist and multimedia communicator with over five years of experience in media literacy and awareness campaigns. Mattia’s professional background provided a sharp, investigative edge to the session, offering participants a glimpse into the professional methods used by journalists to verify sources and debunk false content.
The webinar was structured around practical "defense" strategies for the digital world:
Identifying Misinformation: Understanding the psychology behind "fake news" and the common patterns used to spread false information.
Verification Toolkit: Practical methods and digital tools to check the authenticity of online images, articles, and social media claims.
Developing a Critical Lens: Strategies for navigating today’s media landscape with confidence, ensuring that we remain informed rather than influenced.
By the end of the session, attendees were equipped with the "digital armor" necessary to navigate the internet more safely. This webinar reinforces a key pillar of the Digiskill initiative: that true digital proficiency requires not just the ability to consume content, but the critical skills to analyze and verify it.
As the 3rd of 12 webinars from Youth Power, this event marks another step forward in preparing young adults to be responsible and well-informed digital citizens.
