DIGISKILL WEBINAR SERIES: YMCA COMPREENSIVE INSTITUTE UGANDA #5

In an era where data is one of the most valuable commodities on earth, protecting digital assets is no longer just a technical preference—it is a core ethical responsibility. On June 10, 2026, YMCA Uganda addressed this crucial boundary in its fifth Digiskill session: "Cybersecurity & Data Protection in Digital Projects." The highly critical session brought together 21 vigilant participants determined to build safer digital initiatives.

The masterclass was conducted by Mr. James W. Nnusu, an expert in digital security and network protection. Mr. Nnusu brought a sharp, protective lens to the virtual space, moving beyond complex jargon to explain the real-world vulnerabilities that modern digital projects and community organizations face every day in an increasingly hostile online environment.

The webinar provided a structural shield for project managers, focusing on:

  • The Fundamentals of Digital Defense: Recognizing common cyber threats, phishing tactics, and security breaches that can compromise an organization's integrity.

  • Data Protection & Ethics: Understanding the principles of user privacy, secure data storage, and the legal responsibilities of handling sensitive community information.

  • Building a Culture of Security: Implementing simple, zero-budget protocols—such as multi-factor authentication and encrypted communication—to secure daily operations.

Mr. Nnusu’s insights demonstrated that effective cybersecurity is not about operating elite, high-cost software; it is about developing a baseline of digital hygiene and awareness. By mastering these protection frameworks, participants learned how to build trust with their stakeholders, ensuring that their digital innovations remain both impactful and secure.

As the 5th of 12 webinars hosted by YMCA Uganda, this event injected a vital layer of risk management into the Digiskill initiative, equipping the next generation of leaders with the armor needed to innovate safely in the modern economy.
